Tier-2 Exam Pattern (Final Merit)

Tier-2 evaluates the subject knowledge, performance skills, and pedagogy of Music teachers.

  • Objective Questions (Music Theory & Pedagogy)
  • Descriptive Questions (Short notes, explanations, teaching methods)
  • Practical/Performance Assessment (as per KVS norms)

Note: Marks from Tier-2 decide the final merit list.

1. Music Theory (Indian & Western)

  • Evolution of Indian Music
  • Classical Music (Hindustani & Carnatic) – Basic concepts
  • Sangeet: Lakshya & Lakshan
  • Shruti, Swara, Saptak, Thaat, Raga basics
  • Taal system – Teen taal, Dadra, Keharwa, Rupak, Jhap taal
  • Forms of Indian Music – Dhrupad, Khayal, Bhajan, Folk Music
  • Western Music fundamentals
  • Staff notation basics
  • Tempo, Rhythm, Harmony (introductory)

2. Vocal Music (Practical & Pedagogy)
